Sakai Kanechika GIN3 Hontanren Santoku 170mm
It is a typical household knife with a blade length of approximately 160mm to 180mm, and is called an all-purpose knife. It can be used versatilely with meat, vegetables, and fish, and can be cut in a variety of ways, such as shredding and chopping.
Manufactured in Sakai City, Osaka Prefecture, this series uses rust-resistant GIN3 stainless steel as the core material. The characteristic of the Sakai Kanechika Gin Sanbon Forging Series is that it is made using a forging method called "Hon-Tanren" which is extremely time-consuming and requires the skill of the craftsman to create the shape of a knife by hammering out a small piece of steel. This knife was carefully sharpened one by one by Mr. Keiichi Fujii, a knife craftsman with a history of three generations in Sakai. The shape of the handle is Japanese-style and is made of natural wood, making it lighter and easier to handle than Western-style handles.
